The Honey coated Quinine called the Indian Society

Being an Indian, slight patriotism comes naturally to me. Thanks to the "bleed blue" concept, the amazing National Anthem we have that can give anybody goosebumps and also the thought of our country being the greatest that is inculcated in each one of us since school.

The scorecard of "India" so far:

Vibrant-Check
Mystic- Double check
Diverse- Mega Check
Maverick- Giga Check

We have been blessed with such attributes that had we not taken those for granted, we wouldn't have needed to shout about our greatness to the world.

I feel sad because I care. I feel sad how we let go everything that comes in our way in form of bad administration, red tapism, nepotism, caste system, prolonged legal issues and sadly the list goes on.

I am no expert at these issues. But I know, and many of us do, that either we have been on the receiving end or on the givers end when it comes to these vices. Picture a country where kids are open about the the likes and dislikes with their folks. Where education actually resulted in us doing something that gave us satisfaction. Where even the educated families do not ask for "a slim, fair" bride for their son. Where choosing a life partner is more about being in love with someone and less about the opinions of the entire family tree.Where a wedding doesn't mean showing the world how much you can spend on things like food and lights and clothes and gold. Where Individuality comes before society. Where relationships arn't a social obligation. Where a crime is dealt with the way it should be dealt with.Where hanging someone responsible for many deaths is the only option. Where the system is sound enough to prevent the getting away of a man who rapes a 2 year old under the pretext of "mental illness". Where one feels secure looking at a cop and not as a victim of bribery and again, red tapism. Where politics is a profession and not an abusive word. Where people flush the public toilets. Where civic sense is an integral part of everybody's life.

When such hygiene factors do not happen to be in place, the shouts of "Jai Hind" sound more like a defense mechanism. A shield to hide the foundation that is in dire need of repair. If India were a person, I am sure he/she would have agreed. We talk of being proud of our nation. Yes we are, because it has provided us with vibrancy, mysticism, diversity and mavericism. But to make the maximum of the country has given us is our job. Its high time we be quiet about how proud we are and give the nation a chance to be proud of us.

Nevertheless, Happy Independence Day. I hope someday we figure out the exact meaning of this day.
