Quarter life crisis, demystified!
So twent(eens) eh?
Through with college, out there, trying to make it on your own. Perennially cribbing. And for some reason accepting this random truth that this is it. Anything after this is downhill. Ironically, waiting for something better to happen everyday.
And conveniently attribute it to the QUARTER LIFE CRISIS.
Ever thought that crisis does not actually exist? Only the horse's rein is in your hands. Sure the idealisms of youth and realities of adulthood conflict, but hasn't it led to something good?
To begin with, we are so much more tolerant. With the crazy bosses, clients and other "stakeholders" giving us a hard time like they are on a mission, we miraculously manage to get a breather.
Social Group! Friends spread out in different locations across the world. So we value all the little time we spend with them. Phonecalls, Skype or meeting in person.
Money $$$. Your first watch, first phone, first purchase for folks. Overwhelmingly peaceful isn't it? So what if we live paycheck to paycheck or have Maggi for dinner?
The point is, the problems were always there. Only we weren't taking care of them. Parents took care of food, planned finances and took us for vacation. Friends cooperated in swearing at people we hate. May be the intensity of the issues was small, but so were we. Hasn't the world always been relative?
Crisis is a word used more liberally than it should be. Screw ups, sure. But crisis puts us and the U.S. sub-prime and even Greece in the same bag.
Sure we are better than that!
Well written.....be happy with what you have now is my funda :-)
